Reaching Out About Depression and Suicide is a community effort to reduce rates of suicide in Shawano and the surrounding areas.

Welcome to the Shawano-Menominee Counties "Reaching Out About Depression and Suicide" (ROADS) website!

Who are we? We are community members united for the purpose of increasing recognition of the issues surrounding depression and suicide while creating awarness of available resources, education and support.

Wisconsin Suicide Facts:

Suicide is the tenth most common cause of death in Wisconsin.
It is the second most common cause of death among people age 15-34. It is third nationally!
Suicide rates are highest among people age 65 and older.
The rate of suicides in Shawano County from 1999-2003 was 15 deaths per 100,000 people, compared with a rate of 11 per 100,000 for the state of Wisconsin as a whole.
